The course on job burnout prevention was developed under the Erasmus+ KA2 Cooperation Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training (VET) program.
The project was initiated to address the growing issue of workplace burnout among IT professionals, responding to the need for improved well-being and mental health in high-pressure work environments. The course aims to create a vocational education and training program that utilizes modern IT tools, interdisciplinary methodologies, and up-to-date curricula to equip participants with tools to counteract job burnout. The application was motivated by identified problems in the target group, such as stress, lack of work-life balance, and insufficient training in workplace welfare strategies. The course fills the gap in the existing vocational training offer, by dealing with significant challenge for the labour market in all European member countries.
Target Group:
Middle and top IT management staff in SMEs. Managers play a crucial role in creating a healthy work environment for their employees. They can help prevent and handle burnout by providing clear expectations, regular feedback, recognition, autonomy, support, and resources to their employees. They can also foster a positive work culture that encourages individual growth, learning, and development, which can reduce burnout and increase engagement.

- This module provides an overview of job burnout, its impact on mental health, and dispels common myths. It establishes a foundation for recognizing burnout as a legitimate workplace challenge that can be mitigated.
- Core Factors Contributing to Professional Burnout
- Focuses on both organizational and individual factors that contribute to burnout, including workload, role clarity, and workplace culture, providing managers with insights into key burnout triggers.
- Establishing Healthy Working Standards and Boundaries
- Covers the implementation of healthy workplace standards, including setting boundaries for work-life balance, promoting fair workloads, and fostering flexible yet structured working conditions.
- Effective Supervisor Support and Active Listening Skills
- Explores how managers can provide meaningful support through listening, empathy, and constructive feedback, emphasizing the role of supervisors in reducing burnout risks.
- Building Cohesion: Team, Community, and Belonging
- Focuses on strategies to create a strong sense of team identity and community, enhancing mutual support and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment that reduces isolation.
- Implementing Participative Management Practices
- Teaches participative management techniques that encourage employees to contribute ideas and participate in decision-making, creating a sense of ownership and reducing stress.
- Recognizing and Reinforcing Through Rewards and Constructive Feedback
- Covers methods for providing external motivation through rewards, recognition, and constructive feedback, helping managers foster motivation without adding pressure.
- Fostering Intrinsic Motivation and a Sense of Purpose
- Helps managers tap into their team members’ intrinsic motivations, aligning their roles with personal values and sense of purpose to enhance job satisfaction and resilience against burnout.
- Preventive Strategies: Early Burnout Detection and Intervention
- Trains managers to identify early signs of burnout and provides immediate strategies for intervention, including regular check-ins, assessment tools, and referral options for support.
- Creating a Culture of Mental Health Awareness and Openness
- Focuses on building a culture that supports mental health awareness, encourages open discussions about burnout, and normalizes seeking support, breaking down the stigma around these issues.

The cluster brings together more than 100 professionals who provide cutting-edge ICT services for local and international customers.
